New Delhi: LPG distributors have threatened to go on strike on October 1, opposing the capping on sale of subsidised cylinders.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA ) on September 13 had decided that consumers of domestic LPG cylinder would get a subsidy for only six refills.
Reportedly, distributors are demanding for a revision of per cylinder commission and streamlining the LPG distribution system. The cooking gas distributors are asking for a commission of Rs 65 per cylinder- over Rs 30 hike - from the existing Rs 25.83 a cylinder that they get from the oil marketing companies.
Subsidised cylinders are currently priced at Rs 399 in this city, while the non-subsidised cylinders will cost around Rs 750.
National Federation of LPG Distributors of India is holding a meeting of around 1,200 dealers and member associations on Monday after which a decision on the strike will be taken.
