Red carpet review: BET Awards 2013

The BET awards is an annual award show put together to celebrate African Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.

Broadcasted on BET (Black Entertainment Television), the awards feature electric performances from some of music’s biggest stars that often involve dramatic costume changes.

This year one of the most dramatic changes was Ciara, the singer song writer walked the red carpet in a black leather Saint Laurent ensemble and a short bob with gorgeous waves only to later switch to long blond tresses for her performance.

The BET awards is one of the awards that doesn’t have a dress code at all which results in a wide range of style choices from dressed down (Erykah Badu walked the red carpet in an orange top and printed leggings) to couture gowns.

BET’s laid back red carpet style atmosphere inspires easily achievable looks for day to day life. The red carpet was mostly an all-white show with the occasional black and pop of colour dresses.

A natural progression as black and white has been one of the biggest trends this year. Leading the pack at last Sunday night’s awards show were;
Some other well-dressed stars in bolder colours were Nicki Minaj who looked spectacular in a black Roberto Cavalli gown.
