Xbox 360 beta registration for Live updates begins

Major Nelson, or Larry Hyrb, Microsoft’s Director of Programming, announced on his blog site that public beta registration for Xbox 360 Live updates is now open.

“We’re inviting Xbox Live members worldwide to participate in the 2013 Xbox Live Update for Xbox 360 Public Beta. It will include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year,” Hyrb wrote on his site.

Xbox 360 owners can take part by applying via the program’s very own tile on the 360 UI’s dashboard. According to Major Nelson, beta testers space is limited “so once the spots are filled the beta will be closed to the public.”

No word yet for the official launch date of the beta testing, and the public launch of the updated Xbox 360 Live.
